About us

Trust us to create stand out schools

Victoria Academies Trust officially launched on 1st January 2014 although its evolution began several years beforehand. The lead sponsor school has had a turbulent history, transforming itself from being one of the worst schools in the country to one of the best. In April 2012, the school became the first converter academy in the local authority. It was only a matter of time therefore before becoming a multi-academy trust.

In September 2014, Rowley Park Academy (in Stafford) became the first sponsored academy to join the trust. Within two years, the school had been transformed and is now a high-performing school. At the same time as Rowley Park, Devonshire Infant Academy and Devonshire Junior Academy, both Sandwell schools, also joined the trust as our first partner schools. These high-performing schools increased significantly our capacity to fulfill our objective of continuing to sponsor and transform local schools. A year later, Northfield Manor Academy in Birmingham joined the trust as our fourth partner school. In October 2016, the trust welcomed its second sponsored school, Fibbersley Park Academy (Walsall) who were placed into special measures in spring 2016. All six academies are within a half hours’ drive from each other along the M5 corridor.

As a trust we also provide School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT), accredited to award qualified teacher status (QTS) for the primary age range. Operating as Central England Teacher Training, we train a number of trainees to become primary teachers. Having successfully completed their training with us, many of them are employed within the trust as newly qualified teachers. More information about the SCITT can be found on our CETT website here or on our Twitter feed @EnglandSCITT.

We also run our own unique social enterprise company called Ballot Street (named after the road that Victoria Park Academy is located on in Smethwick). In partnership with RIO (the Real Ideas Organisation), we aim to create unique spice products that bring families and the local community together and at the same time provide real and purposeful learning experiences. To learn more, or to even buy one of our products, have a look at our website.

Our partnership with the Academy continues to grow and we are pleased to be associated with such a successful and innovative school. — Microsoft
