Professional Development at Victoria Academies

To achieve Victoria Academies Trust’s mission: To make our people they can be’, we are committed to providing high quality professional development opportunities for colleagues, in all roles, across all schools at Victoria Academies Trust. One of our key strategic goals is ‘To grow and value our colleagues’.  Over the last few years, we have developed and invested in our central Professional Learning and Development (PLD) model through our aim to provide a bespoke and varied offer and we plan to continually to develop this year on year.

Our PLD model for all colleagues is comprised of:

  • School-level, universal entitlement, including statutory training, Professional Development Meetings (PDMs) and Appraisal Meetings
  • Central training events determined by role, which are delivered via Gateway Alliance and Ambition Institute for ECTs  as well as training from SWALLS for our special school colleagues
  • Accredited training opportunities including National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) and Apprenticeships within our Apprenticeship Pathways offer.
  • Our central offer which includes a range of courses facilitated by Leaders from across the Trust for VAT colleagues.
  • Networking and collaboration opportunities, by linking with organisations such as Whole education, Education Exchange, Confederation of school trusts, SWALLS and Gateway Alliance.
